CrossFit Level 2

I started CrossFit in November 2018 weighing over 225 pounds. Having served 5 years in the Navy, I already had a passion for group training and a general understanding of fitness. At the time, I would walk into the gym without a structured plan and mostly trained my strengths. That changed when I joined a 6-week challenge and quickly realized I lacked cardio and endurance. The structured workouts and supportive culture at Basin CrossFit helped me become a more well-rounded athlete.

By the end of the 6 weeks, I had lost 15 pounds and 3% body fat. I was hooked. Over time, I achieved several personal milestones—from doing my first pull-up to mastering butterfly pull-ups and eventually a bar muscle-up. My endurance improved drastically, and I saw the impact firsthand. I competed in the Bataan Death March (a 26.2-mile ruck carrying 35 lbs) in 2018 and finished in 13 hours. After five months of consistent training at Basin CrossFit, I returned in 2019 and completed it in just 9 hours.

Along the way, I discovered a genuine love for helping and encouraging others to reach their goals. That passion led me to begin shadowing coaches, and I earned my CrossFit Level 1 certification in March 2020. I am currently a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer and continue to pursue growth in both my own fitness and coaching abilities.

The community at Basin CrossFit has made training one of the best parts of my day—it’s more than just working out; it’s showing up with friends and pushing each other to be better.
